Snow at stowe 'Polaris' GNWR by jamesgreen Snow at stowe 'Polaris' GNWR by jamesgreen
Commissioned by CSRE and based on their proposed high-speed product range.

This painting is set in the future (2014) depicting a 'Polaris' set in GNWR livery at Stowe Hill, Weedon on a snowy afternoon.

Not a easy painting to do as I had no reference to snow at this location, also there was the small matter of the train has yet to be built! Overall I was really pleased with how this turned out. (ps can you spot the robin?)

Your works, including this one, are lovely. They look so real! The sleek train, the snow powder stirred up by the wheels, the pattern on the stone pillars of the fence... Fantastic attention to detail.

Superb work James! Even if this was from an exact ref photo it would be a brilliant painting but I'm awed by the actual artistic vision necessary to translate the ref of the location into a snowy scene with an non-existent train included. Well done!!

Thanks Bryan, I was under a bit of pressure too time scale wise as this was also used by who commissioned it as a Christmas card. Anyway for me the snow kicking up from the side of the train really helped pull this painting together.

Hope it wasn't the 'wrong type of snow' or Polaris will be pole-axed ;)
